QuietGriot worked as a Peace Corps volunteer in northern Benin from 2008 to 2010. I collaborated on a national project to facilitate the promotion and distribution of moringa tree leaves as a vitamin supplement in communities with limited fresh food. This project came to fruition with the launch of the Benin Moringa Association in 2010.

Benin is small country in West Africa, resource poor but culturally rich. Over 50 languages are spoken in this country the size of my native Virginia. From the  voodoo traditions of the coastal south to the nomadic heritage of the northern cattle herders, my two years in Benin were a photographer’s dream.
